Handing over a pink card saying your caught my eye, you have to be joking! Surely no one is going to do that. But in general I would say any way people can meet other meet will be utilised.

[...] Nice article about Google, Jaiku and the future (via Dragos), Nokia has been doing this for ages (at least 3 years back), too bad it never "took off" - the main reason for that is in my opinion not partnering with carriers to use their Nokia Presence Server.Nokia had also pioneered bluetooth social networking with Nokia Sensor, again a very old application, this also was never successful despite being backed by the famous mobile phone company, this should be a lesson to learn for the followers.
I think people could meet this way. In a sense it will be an expression of a common interest, so niche that it's like being a member of a club. Eventually it could become passe, of course, and at the end of the night, janitors will sweep up the discarded introductions off of the floor.

Have to agree on the paid service though. That just won't work. Print an add on the card, or turn it into a coupon. Wait, that might get kinda weird. I guess it would need to be an online coupon. Passing off a 'get to know me' card, from some person you had no interesting in dating, to the grocery attendant could get a bit weird.

uhm.. really depends on where you are and the crowd. In today's UK uni drink/partying culture (speak from experience) and every single person in my uni being on facebook.. this could work. The cost of entry though is the killer. They could print cards for you with an advert prob to keep the costs down or free??

Sorry, I cannot see this catching on.

As Arrington rightly says,

"If someone has the guts to approach a person they are attracted to but can only muster up the courage to shove a plastic card in their hand and then run away, they should probably stick to purely virtual meetups."

I agree absolutely, plus how many women (i assume mostly men will be using this initially) will appreciate a guy who does not have the courage to even speak to him. Add this to the costs. I cant see it flying.
