It’s a new site, not sure if it has even launched publicly, but I’ve been a beta tester there for a while and its pretty cool.

It’s an online vcr, covering all the uk free-to-air channels … including BBC2!

I am quite amazed that this site got funded. The poor concept mixed with the antiquated name — I was sure this site was headed for the .com deadpool.

I checked this site out in the beta – just another aggregator as far as I can tell. I read a description that said the site uses “advanced screen scraping technology” to get the listings. Who “screen scrapes”? Is this thing run off of a 1950’s mainframe?

TIOTI stands for “TAPE It Off The Internet” — way to speak to the TiVo generation. These guys need some serious branding help. Who seriously talks like that?

This is horseshit. It’s the same old aggregation. What we really need is smart new content. I thought that making good TV was more accessible these days?

All we see is
(1) Portals = same old shit aggregated
(2) Joost = 99% same old shit aggregated with 1% some new stuff (hooray for them, at least they are getting creative, but then they have to as their teach advantage is about to go down the plughole with Adobe and h.264). (3) Testcard TV, TIOTI etc = same old shit aggregated with a slight feeling of piracy around it.
(4) Youtube = user generated. At least some originality but you watch that for more than 3 minutes and your brain begs for mercy.

I want to see good entertainment at a decent intellectual level, not more MTV, quiz shows. More BBC2 than MTV.

Who is doing that on the web?
