Yahoo! is in negotiations to buy Israel-based FoxyTunes, according to TechCrunch.com. The Firefox plugin allows users to control their favorite media players from the browser. Yahoo has made overtures towards shaking things up in music and last week launched a new, stripped down, easy-to-use web based MP3 player, which could well be integrated with a browser based player like Foxy Tunes. Both FoxyTunes and Yahoo! have declined to comment. According to TechCrunch France’s Ouriel Ohayon, Yahoo! is joining Microsoft and Google in opening an R&D office in Israel, so acquiring talent and companies there can’t be far from their minds. [I need to go and check where Google, Yahoo an Microsoft have R&D offices in the rest of Europe. Any help appreciated! Any in London?]  Microsoft has an R&D office in the UK.
