As a regular traveller (no, not pikey) I really want to use Dopplr. But I find adding trips so time consuming in Dopplr.

Conversely, I'm an uber user of Tripit which has a nifty auto-parser of airline and hotel confirmation emails to extract such information. I now have all such emails automatically forwarded to TripIt's special email and so my TripIt profile remains up to date with zero involement from me (bar forwarding ad-hoc confirmation emails from one-time bookings that I've not established rules for).

The guys behind Dopplr are great + smart people, and they also have a loyal fan following. I think they do trade a little off their fan following and the same company run by a bunch of unkowns might not fare quite as well.

But for me, it's a product and I treat all products equally regardless of who built them. I'm also not convinced Dopplr or even TripIt is really enough of a utility to warrent it's own social network. Both strike me as being great examples of Facebook or OpenSocial applications to me.

Dopplr requires too much effort to get your info in. I recently found TripiT which can automatically parse out the trip info from an email. It is so cool. The effort involved in getting the same info into Dopplr is mauch greater. Definitely find the UI and features far easier to get into.

An even more pressing issue for Dopplr is that 14 hours after Celia's appeal for ideas on how to improve the manage connections page, not one user has pitched in with a suggestion.

Maybe they're all on a plane with Doug Richard...

I really like Dopplr and the link would be useful, they could add nofollow if they are worried about it being abused for getting google juice. I have to admit I need to delve into it's functions a bit more, maybe then I would have known Doug Richard was on the same flight as me down to Stansted on Friday, not that I would have pitched to him in the departure lounge, well not much...
