Dennis – The startups all had private meetings with – variously – potential investors, partners and other people. I know for a fact that several deals will be announced as a result of this trip in the coming weeks and months (Skimbit was the only one to be in a position to confirm three new partnerships during the week) and I assure you that you will be the first to know when the stories happen. Along with the other readers of this site, that is.

I assume other parts of the UK has facilities like http://welshtrade.com/ ( I am aware of the support serious games gets in the West Midlands).

I am not ready for them in my current enterprise, but they finance trade missions, local contacts in key areas, market research. My MILIA costs were covered in the 90’s and lead to introduction to US and Canadian VC.

Thanks, Mike. Obviously, my (our) own agenda is on London as a creative and digital hub and we’ve clearly got the brains/brawn/resources to do it. However, exporting our products is a key part of that actually working.

I really got inspired by your comment “they got to network with eachother, away from the distractions of their businesses and the UK, and create a support network for eachother [sic]“. That idea of time-out and informal learning being so important is a message all the UK networks need to drive home.
