02, exclusive carrier of the iPhone in the UK and Ireland, will be launching the iPhone 3G from their Web site tomorrow, as implied by a notice posted tonight right after Steve Jobs stepped down from his speech at WWDC. My sources say O2 will be using their site to control the initial sale of iPhones as they get them from Apple, though whether that’s because of production/supply delays or because they expect large demand is not that clear. Probably the former.

Cheers for the heads up Mike
Hope it will still be as easy to get an unlocked phone, but I suspect not
Do you call them Zero-2 on purpose?
Wonder what option existing iPhone subscribers will have. As an early adopter, mid-contract will the only option be to get a new phone on a new contract? Who knows…
In the bottom right hand corner of the site there is a banner that says, “Upgrade your phone, Get the same as new customers plus something extra.”
I hope that applies to the new iphone.
Don’t worry James. What you get the pleasure of being able to constantly label yourself as an” early adopter”.
Really – you but a product and then sometime later the company that makes that product releases a slightly better and cheaper version and that entitles you to what exactly? It happens a hundred times a day with a hundred different products but only with this phone do all the bleeding edge “early adopters” think that it entitles them to something extra.
It sound good, let me have a look on it.
