Mike, I posted in haste and I apologise that you were offended. If the BBC was to link to Catwalk would it link to an individual post, or to a homepage? When I searched for it, it came up as part of Glam (would you expect anything else from the Glam network?). On the credit, I have to disagree. What I want from the BBC is trusted sources who are taking part because they want to contribute to the debate not because they want an advert on the BBC. Ales

ales bratov - Your attitude is typical of the elitist crap UK bloggers have to put up with from UK media sites that think only US sites can cut it. You haven't even got the right site. Better brush up on your Googling skills. Here's the relevant link:

@ashley Why do you expect the BBC to link to this

If this is what UK blogging looks like, the BBC is the least of its problems.

Hi,

I don't live in london, so there's zero chance of me being involved in these sorts of events, but has any discussion occurred around how open and who should have access to this great publicly-funded platform the "web2.0" crowd seem to want?

It's just the small mater of the BBC being the British Public Service Broadcaster with emphasis on all 4 preceeding words, being funded by British License-payers which inevitably leads to it not being fair or appropriate for its data, content or bandwidth used for the benefit of foreign (i.e. u.s.) companies or V.C.-backed companies built to be sold to those same companies!

At the same time, the BBC is building "a place for every bbc programme, on the web" which seems perfectly suited to a uktv-type J.V. or to be more self-serving, exclusively under the auspices of BBC Worldwide, either option could be more efficient than funding completely by licence-money and would allow better interfacing with "See-Saw".

The fundamental ethos that should be appreciated, is that the internet is not broadcasting, every user adds bandwidth cost, the people who have and run these high-vision (without budgetary limit) ideas, are at the stratospheric opposite of the people least likely to have broadband access (e.g. iplayer for iphone wet-dreams)!

Yours kindly,

Hi, I know you've got video up, but just putting in another shout for an mp3. In general I find them much more useful than videos, I can listen to the mp3 while doing other things (usually cooking, cleaning or commuting!), but I haven't really got time to watch streaming videos..

I want to write a Part II - where do we go from here, but that will take a bit longer.

did you make an audio /video recording?

a nice mp3 link would be good, you wouldn't have to type it all up and we'd hear what was actually said without any spin attached from yer goodself.

how about in time for the C4 one?

Alx - I'm hoping to start the process from here on about how startups can better engage with the gradual release of BBC data. It' about finding the key people huh, and I think we kicked this off last night. Lot more to be done.

Ashley - I sympathise. Panorama should have linked to an acknowledged Shiny's contribution to their doco about child labour in fashion. Rather pathetic behaviour from those particular programme makers. One is never quite sure if it is some junior researcher who cuts credits to sources, or the senior guys. Very, very tedious, to put it mildly....
