As you know, I have recently moved to Palo Alto to set up DN Capital&#039;s U.S. office.  In my opinion, the ONLY way to successfully invest in both Europe and the US is if you have the seniormost members of the organisation running the two activities.  If you are a European firm and hire a separate US team or vice versa, sooner or later the cultures will diverge, the strategies will diverge and eventually the teams will diverge.  If you have the founders undertaking this themselves, with a commitment for each to be on airplanes frequently in each other&#039;s geography, you can maintain the culture and the strategy and actually (if combined with a focused investment theme) enhance returns substantially.
