To succeed, start-ups must build trust. Earning trust takes time and start-up businesses are operating from a standing start with no history of competence or credibility. Intriguingly, start-ups are constrained by the very resource they need to thrive.

More trust is required when there is a high perceived risk of using a service. Less trust is required when we are highly motivated by the benefits of that service.

A good post - one advantage that webbased startups have is that websites if professional can appear to be from large established business when in fact they are fresh startups - quality service and quality appearance is key.

"Trust comes on foot, but leaves on horseback" I like that quote - so very true.

Ability, Integrity and Benevolence, those three pretty much sum it up I guess. What you want to do, how well you can do it, and whether or not you actually do it.

I just posted on <a href="http://www.jonathanboettcher.com/7-steps-to-earning-customer-trust-online/" rel="nofollow">"7 Steps to Earning Customer Trust Online."</a> Similar but different.

Cheers
