Having attended the Allstars event in my famously bright shirt, amongst shirts and ties, I must admit the dancers were bizzare, but some great introductions and people there, unfortunately couldnt make Twestival and missed a great night, with highlights being fed back to me, going to make sure dont miss the next one...

Loved Investor Allstars (been to 3, it has really evolved). Does it occur to you that it is great for VC's to network, and with other finance professionals as well? Besides, some great entrepreneurs where there too. Impressed by the people in attendance this year, also the top Europeans where there too, great for me as a UK VC networking with other VC's in particular other Europeans... BTW, can't really see Moulton or Coelho sweating it out in an underground club, but who knows...? For the record, love those types of events to, just think there are definately space for both... obviously both are popular events!

Did it occur to you that the VCs take their customers to their award parties (i.e. the investors that invest in their funds). Why would they take their portfolio companies? And why would an entrepreneur go to that sort of event?

James Pearce - Why compare them? Because they are two sides of the same industry - one rather stayed and despite its sector almost the opposite of (ad)venture, the other loud and created virtually from thin air by entrepreneurial people. Apologies if you don't get the comparison.

The Twestival was amazing. Not that it wasn't like every other Friday night in a sweaty underground bar, but I was pretty amazed by the turnout of real people whom I had only ever seen as a bunch of tiny square photos and manga cartoons.

There are a lot of great connections being made on Twitter, and there's a real camaraderie between users of the addictive updates. And that feeling continues long after the real-life meetings are finished. I wouldn't have been able to get my silly, catchy little song out to so many people without all the Twitterers going out of their way to pass on the YouTube link to their own Twitter networks.

Good to meet you last night, Mike. And thanks for reposting the video. Since last night it has hit a quarter of a million views! Proof of the power of the tweet. ;o)

And the prizes at Twestival were better. Service Provider of the Year vs a Wii. I know which I would prefer... (although admittedly got neither, but I did get a couple of cool Twitter t shirts which will be prizes at the next bootlaw).

Twestival was great fun and it did something even more than raising funds for a great charity - It also bridged an on-line community into a 'real world' one. Brilliant.
It was good to hear the voices behind many of the avatars I've followed or been followed by for the past year or so (just, over the music and hubbub :) - I think I'm getting old)! More fun with a bit of social action soon I hope.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for coming down and blogging about our little party :)

Apart from @amandita and @renatenyborg (who really made the vent a success) there were a few other people who helped to organise including @tommalcolm (comment above) @timhoang @grumblemouse @jamiec @cuan and @rubennyborg.

Oh, and me!

Cheers and we'll let you know about the next one!

Hi Mike - good to meet you last night - thanks for your support in making people aware of the event - to see Twestival mentioned more than Obama on Twitter yesterday was pretty crazy - just good to meet everyone and hope to see everyone again soon!
