Qwitter is an interesting new Twitter app. It basically sends you an email telling you when someone unfollows you on Twitter and includes your last twitter update in that message. Whether they unfollow you for that last tweet or not, who knows, but it may have some relation to why someone unfollowed you.
The site is up and down right now as it seems to have got a lot of interest, for obvious reasons. As Ireland-based co-developer Eoghan McCabe says, this “changes the game for Twitter-based relationships”. Now, you can’t secretly unfollow friends or associates anymore. If someone unfollows you, you’ll know and you’ll be able to ask them why. That means it may break up a few twitter friendships. Then again, it may even improve a few. At least you’ll be able to ask someone why they unfollowed you. Maybe people will will learn to use Twitter in a smarter way?

Since I was never followed by @mbites, I can avoid the trauma of being unfollowed.
LOL!
I think this application is great! Let’s hope I never get one of their emails
Don’t try going to Qwitter dot com as it will only redirect you to some random site. Hmm, C’mon people, when will you start thinking before registering some of these domain names?
Qwitter has won the honor of inaugurating YourDomainNameSucks.com Let’s learn from their mistakes. Other than that, congrats on a great app Contrast.
Great idea! I would never have thought of it. I have signed up, just hope I don’t get an e-mail from them. Although I don’t think its a bad domain name. If its memorable and you get a sense of what it does then it can’t be that bad

Thanks to Hosting365 for sorting us out with Hosting. Lots of power to keep our Qwitter processes (and website) running smoothly.
installed!
surely this should just be a feature of Twitter anyway – I get an email if someone starts following, so why not when they leave? Amazed that someone would go to the effort of developing and hosting something that should be done by twitter itself…
better stil would be if twitter asked you, when you unfollow someone, for the reason. maybe from a list of predefined reasons, e.g. ‘too many posts’, ‘too few posts’, ‘posts are too personal’, ‘posts are not relevent to me’, ‘too much effing’, ‘mistaken identity’, ‘I decided to get a life and stop using twitter’. People who have many strangers follower them might find it beneficial to track why people stop following them, or indeed why they start following. But I don’t see why you’d need a third party to do this
Ello. Interesting stuff. I’ve posted a blog about it here if anyone is interested.
Synopsis: I think Qwitter could be really useful as a marketing tool, but it seems right now it’s just being looked at as an ego tool. Shame.
At least you’ll be able to ask someone why they unfollowed you
God forbid. I don’t want to have to justify why I unfollow people.
this is pure boredom.
Hardly earth shattering is it though. And Dom above is right – twitter could just add this. Although a very quick look at the site suggests the developers already have an exit strategy in mind: “Qwitter is not affiliated with Twitter, but wouldn’t it be cool if it was?”. You’ll be lucky…
I do not know if I was ever followed by mbites, so I do not know whether to be traumatised. To be honest I cannot understand why anyone would follow me or read my blog, but people do. It is all a mystery.
Mehhh, Twitterless is better.
How is it possible that I would get almost 200 Qwitters in the last 20 minutes after one post that was harmless? I have posted that exact thing a zillion times… I don’t get it.
Try following @goodbyebuddy on Twitter – sends you a DM everytime someone unfollows you. An excellent Qwitter alternative!
