[...] Without wishing to over-dramatise two lines on a graph touching each other, this is nonetheless a watershed, at least for the UK. What’s interesting isn’t so much Twitter’s recorded site traffic, which is predictable, yet doesn’t mean much because so many people use third-party clients, but rather MySpace’s numbers. The graph’s seemingly inexorable decline suggests a steady exodus of users. How on earth can the site hope to recover in this market now? Its upcoming clutch of mobile clients? MySpace Music? It seems my previous optimism on the subject was profoundly misplaced. No wonder there have been so many redundancies recently. [...]

Ultimately I think the companies desire to grow commercially far outweighed it's desire and ability to deliver technologically for a rapidly adapting set of users.

So... they employed too many people too quickly- 300+ in Europe in less than 2 years, by a small internal team handling hundreds and hundreds of CV's a day. What they failed to see is that a company needs to be able to grow and adapt organically, bringing on the right people at the right time, complimenting skill-bases, personalities and where possible people who represented the very users they were trying to promote, sell and reach out to. There were people there, potentially still are, that barely knew how to operate MySpace and frankly didn't care for the product- but loved the 'cool factor'.

Well they killed it pretty quick. Good job.

I can vouch for all of these comments. I have never known such an arrogant set of people from middle management upwards. There is nothing more dangerous than putting people like this in a position of power.

As goodsource says, it's the younger ones - the minions who were incredibly creative, the ones who did ALL the work and came up with all the brilliant ideas that no one 'up there' would ever listen to - who have kept this company going this long.

They all deserve to move on to exciting new roles with employers who actually nurture them and appreciate them. Good luck folks - happier times are around the corner.

Look, I hate TC as much as the next ex-FIMer but they hear the news before we did/do.

Personally, I hope this news management, esp Van Natta, falls flat on their faces.

A completely absent, corrupt group & we knew even less these past few weeks than we did with DeWolfe. The 'weekend reading' mass emails sent on Fridays by Jason were particularly smug.

And Tom has been MIA for the last few weeks. Probably hiding from his loyal employees.

Good luck EU teams, we feel your pain. Abandon the sinking ship with your head held high.
