Internet really changes and improves journalism. For example Twitter or Facebook: when a celebrity or a politician posts updates on their pages, there is no editor to distort the message and this way we receive information directly from the person we are interested in.
When people watch tv online http://watchtvonlinefree.net/ or read newspapers they mostly get biased coverage of events and false interviews...

It's true, the internet has changed so much - you tend to take it for granted.
Especially social networking, but how will it evolve from where we are today?
thats the question

Like many said here, I just don't get it. Who's paying rent? who's paying for months of research and travels? so what you're saying is journalism will become a hobby, not a real job, and therefore whoever has a blog becomes a journalist? the day the Guardian or the Economist will cease to exist (offline, online, mobile versions, whatever platform they use) because of all that "free" utopia, everybody will lose. So instead of saying how old folks don't get it and they're a bunch of losers, why don't you try to understand the real consequences and think beyond the "we're bloggers we're so cool and so new". I'm afraid you are the ones, the "elite", not getting it. Finally, think about it: remove the actual content providers (you know, the guys you copy the links from), like the newspapers and magazines, and what do you have left really? let's get real please.

The German blogosphere is so much different than the English. There is so much envy and hatred everywhere. techcrunch.com [...]

I am not sure why so many are hoping for the end of traditional journalism here.

This "manifesto" has a lot of truth to it, however, it mostly applies to traditional media that I wouldn't associate with true journalism in the first place, particularly the quoted Burda - it's entertainment and if I read about the latest gossip online by some blogger or in a glossy magazine doesn't matter (at least to me).

But, journalism, the investigative kind, is one of the most precious things our western society has created, yet, the problem is that it is affected in the same way as the entertainment, nice-to-have type of "journalism".

I truly hope that magazines like Time, Spiegel, The Economist all the great daily newspapers find way to monetize their efforts.

There is enough "opinion" out there, I hope the information doesn't get lost in the process....

oh man - a manifesto? let's see this at wikipedia: A manifesto is a public declaration of principles and intentions, often political in nature!

what I read isn't a manifesto - its a posing document with some statements from some more or less intelligent bloggers!

oh please tc-why do post this crap here? I thought you are going for quality?!

It would suck, but also be awesome if traditional news outlets really started going out of business and these bloggers were forced to leave the basement and find news for themselves to rant about and quote liberally. They'd probably have to find investors to get started and hire reporters to keep up and get exclusives. Oh wait.. then they'd be the traditional media outlets!
