youtube dont even try to defend themselves in turkish courts. simply, they dont care.

may be when they establish an office to turkey and hire lawyers for cases, then they can unban youtube.

but they dont want to do this, because when they open an office, turkish "IRS" can easily track them.

@ Adnan Mavir
Not to stray to far off the beaten path but the USA didn't go into Afghanistan for power they went into get rid of the Taliban. You are also not seeing what good the U.S. military is doing for example they help the farmers grow better and more efficient crops. This would take me to long to explain why it's good for the economy but it just is. Again I don't mean to go to far of the main topic.

Hard to understand how a good old sales tax issue can bring up so many misguided and political comments.

In general Turkish companies need to charge an additional 18% sales tax on every invoice they issue. Government collects these sales taxes from the companies the following month after the invoice was issued. So it is very a nice steady cash flow for the government. US consumers are used to this tax as the "sales tax" and I believe in UK it is known as VAT.

If an international company which does not have an office in Turkey sends an invoice to a Turkish company they do not need to include a sales tax.

The same is true in US as well. Amazon for instance, still (at least whenever it sends out something to me, maybe its because I live in Florida :) ) does not add sales tax to its invoices.

There are many online companies which do not charge sales tax and this good old sales tax issue is well known by governments world wide and will definitely be solved at some point.

Some of you might also say "how about the corporate tax and income tax". That's a totally different issue. Google Turkey can find thousands of way to evade paying those taxes in Turkey if they want just by bringing in "service invoices" from its headquarters. But even if they pay the corporate and income taxes in Turkey they wouldn't have to pay those taxes again neither in Ireland or US. Turkey has double taxation agreements with both of those countries.

Cheers,
Hulya
