Now the Russians get into startup stress testing

[Russia] Last week we brought you knews that Ukrainian startups are starting to really motor by arrange events where they “crash test” their startups amongst easchother. Over in nearby Russia, the same is starting to happen. The 1st Startup Crash Test event took place on 6 February in St. Petersburg. As it was covered before Startup Crash Test (SCT) is a monthly event aimed at “stress testing” web-related startups’ market strategy, business model, distribution, roadmap, etc. It’s emerged in Kiev, the Ukraine and SCT will be now held every month in St. Petersburg. Moscow will probably follow soon as well.

The 1st SCT was planned as a “Pilot” but was overbooked. It was planned for just 50 attenders and more than 80 were present. People were standing in the aisle while during the opening session and nobody left. The first Crash Test has attracted valuable group of experts from St. Petersburg and Moscow, the presence of institutional investors including Almaz Capital, ABRT Fund and the local business press presence. The event happened thanks to the help of Moscow Business School, government-funded business incubator “Ingria” and contribution of local entrepreneurs and evangelists.

Three startups were “crash-tested” this time, including CloudBerry Online Backup – backup software for Amazon S3.

In Kiev the SCT has established itself as the major monthly event for Ukrainian startups. The initiative group that is now organizing Crash-Test in St. Petersburg hope that event could help to reveal deep technology potential of local community and ignite innovations in the region.
