Industry moves: former Joost CEO lands at Inform, Skype hires new execs

Skype this morning announced that it has expanded its senior management team with a new Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer (Neal Goldman) and a fresh Chief Marketing Officer (Doug Bewsher).

Both men will be based in Luxembourg and report to CEO Josh Silverman.

Former Joost CEO Matt Zelesko, meanwhile, has landed the CTO position at semantic web technology company Inform Technologies.

Let’s cover the two new Skype execs first.

Neal Goldman joins from 3Com, which was recently acquired by Hewlett-Packard, where he served as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer. As Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer, Neal will have oversight over all legal and regulatory matters for Skype.

Doug Bewsher joins Skype from mig33, where he served as Chief Marketing Officer. According to the press release, Bewsher led growth and monetization strategies globally, doubling registered users to 40 million and increasing revenue five-fold. Prior to mig33, he held a number of senior marketing roles including heading the San Francisco office of digital agency Publicis Modem, serving as Global Customer Marketing Director for Vodafone and co-leading McKinsey’s North American CRM practice.

Bewsher will oversee Skype’s global brand and marketing, as well as local go-to-market activities.

As for Matt Zelesko, he was once Director of Engineering for Cisco and went on to become Vice President of Engineering for Comcast Interactive Media, where he was responsible for the development and delivery of all web properties, including the Comcast portal and Fancast. He then joined promising online video startup Joost as Senior Vice President of Engineering, and later became CEO, ultimately leading the sale of the company to Adconion.

Zelesko will be joining Inform Technologies, a developer and provider of semantic web solutions, as CTO. He will oversee all technology development and operations and will guide the long-term technology strategy for the company.
