What next? Crowd-sourcing your suggestions for TechCrunch Europe

Before we announce what we plan to do with TechCrunch Europe (in terms of events, plans etc) after the Summer, I thought we should also take your suggestions. Feel free to unload with your ideas in the comments. Remember we don’t have unlimited resources to achieve everything we’d like to do, but I’m really happy to take any suggestions or views.     Hopefully you will do a European tour to report what’s going on there (Berlin, Paris, Zurich, Copenhagen etc). It’d be great to have the dates in advance so that startups can plan some news for you and techcrunch Europe. In general any ahead schedule is nice to get prepared, engage with & contribute more to events/meetups.

    Go on tour, get a tour bus and park up in the major cities (near the railway station if poss) Map onto Tech Hub or Startup Mill events and sponsor a meet.
    Suggest Bristol, London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow & Edinburgh. Blag some Angels/VC’s to come with you (…or sponsor it). Run clinic’s, workshops & mini jobs fairs. That’ll do for starters!

    How about TechCrunch challenges, a bit like Ansari X Prize. Come up with series of challenges for tech/startup community to solve based on themes (Ageing Population, Financial Crisis, Climate Change).

    Unlikely prizes can be so grandiose but sure Techcrunch and partners could muster up something worth vying for…

    I’d like to see more co-founders of failed start-ups (originally featured on TC) telling us why they failed, what they learned and what they would differently now.

    We get to hear about all the successes but some video interviews about lessons learned from founders who took investment but didn’t hit the targets would be pretty neat.

    How about something with Universities? There’s a lot of smart students out there with ideas who haven’t got a clue how to get started or how to tap the knowledge of the European Tech community. For starters could be something with some of the London Unis! I’m sure there’s plenty of others across Europe that would want the same thing!

    As far as writing goes, longer reviews or research or single European countries would be nice. RWW used to do a lot of these. One key is to make sure to use multiple sources for that, articles by just one single country insider tend to be skewed.

    One feature for the website might be something allowing startups to publish their news, pitches or whatever on special section of TCEU. Question is of course, how to maintain quality, but probably some community moderation / voting. For startup pitches, may be accept only videos – not too many will make the effort and it is easier to do the filtering.
