Flook discovers English Heritage – that's castles, ruined abbeys and stately homes

Flook, which we’ve previously described as a  StumbleUpon for location-based discovery, has partnered with English Heritage, the UK government’s quango responsible for helping preserve historical landmarks, such as famous sites like Stonehenge and Hadrian’s Wall.

Under the arrangement, English Heritage is working with flook to let users ‘discover’ almost 400 British castles, ruined abbeys and stately homes via the startup’s iPhone app. Flook already has similar content partnerships with Reveal Kings Cross, Postal Heritage and the British Library.

Moving forward, flook co-founder Roger Nolan says that the company plans to add English Heritage events on flook to enable people already attending properties to discover what else they can do whilst they are there. Until that happens, however, it will be left to users to add related events themselves “as they see them and help to build the community”. We live in a User-Generated Content world after all.

To get down with English Heritage via flook, you can either search for their username (@Englishheritage) within the app or online at www.Flook.it or, alternatively, using the iPhone’s GPS functionality you can discover landmarks nearby.
