Now THAT is a nice profile picture. Like.

If Pablo Picasso or Belgian surrealist, René Magritte, were alive and on Facebook, their profiles would probably be a terrific work of art. Yes, that’s right, Magritte is the one who did this painting. With a little inspiration from the Treachery of Images, I bet he’d also write something along the lines of “This is not a Facebook profile” or “Ceci n’est pas un profil Facebook” somewhere on his Facebook page.

Yet, while Picasso and Magritte may not be around to wow us with a little contemporary Facebook art, the profile of French artist Alexandre Oudin is probably the next best thing. The Co-Director of La Bande Originale managed to maximize the new Facebook design released officially last week in order to express himself in a rather innovative and original way.

While Facebook’s simple blue and white layout is sometimes a little less funky than what one could find on other social platforms, like MySpace’s over-the-top personalization options and whatnot, Oudin has clearly demonstrated that there are still creative ways to express yourself on Facebook.

I wouldn’t be surprised if his unique way of using notably the 5 images now displayed on the top of a profile page becomes a hit with other users or sets off a wave of other innovative profile picture displays. For anyone who wants to copy his style, all you have to do is block the other photos you’re tagged in and upload photos to your profile pictures album that are the exact size (yes, down to the pixel) of the display on Facebook and voilà !

Check out some more cool, Alexandre Oudin-like designs featured on TechCrunch France. If anyone else out there has an artsy profile going on, feel free to send it my way.
