MXP4's social game Pump It passes 1 million active users in its first month

MXP4 is not Zynga. It’s not even close to being Zynga. But recently, the Paris-based startup that specializes in interactive music solutions has started to look a whole lot more like the social gaming star. Well, kinda.

When Zynga first launched CityVille back in December, it only took the company 8 days to make it to 6 million users. Impressive. As for MXP4, the company has just announced that its new social game, Pump It, already has 1 million active users for the game launched back in December. Ok, it’s not anything like 6 million users in just over a week, but still. For the company’s first social game (which also happens to be rather simple), it’s really not too shabby. Then again, it probably helps that some 30 big-name artists have integrated Pump It into their Fan Pages, including the likes of David Guetta, Enrique Iglesias and Nelly Furtado.

But it’s not just the numbers that are bridging the gap between MXP4 and Zynga.  In fact, it’s becoming more and more obvious that MXP4 is actively going after the social music gaming space. The company recently hired a new VP of Marketing – Xavier Louis, who was previously at Playfish – EA Interactive and specializes in social gaming. His main task will be monetization of MXP4’s social games.

Also, Albin Serviant, CEO of MXP4, has confirmed that the company is reorienting itself towards social music gaming. One of the reasons for this, according to Serviant, is because there is not a single music-based social game in the top 100 social games on Facebook. Guess that means the team is pretty well positioned to quickly become a leader in the space.

MPXP4 is currently in the process of developing a second social game (more sophisticated than Pump It), which should be available on Facebok before summer.
