Here’s the guy who unwittingly live-tweeted the raid on Bin Laden
by Mike Butcher
on May 2, 2011

Yesterday Sohaib Athar (@ReallyVirtual on Twitter) was just “an IT consultant taking a break from the rat-race by hiding in the mountains”, specifically Abbottabad, northern Pakistan.

The IT contractor and graduate of Preston University also says he’s a ‘startup specialist’ on his LinkedIn profile, but now owns a coffee shop.

But today he will become known as the guy who, while live-tweeting a series of helicopter flypasts and explosion, unwittingly covered the US forces helicopter raid on Osama Bin Laden’s compound. And he knows it. Here’s a selection of his Tweets:

Especially common in IT where it is not uncommon to have to deal with a lot of things, like documentation and communication with other groups and businesses, to be primarily in English. He may even have attended school/university in an English speaking region (The US, UK, Australia…)

Ultimately, it’s silly to say something sounds ‘too American’. You have no idea this person’s past, where they schooled, if they are in fact maybe a US expat… Etc, etc…

Go ahead was given on the 29th early in the morning U.S. Eastern time, probably about mid-afternoon in Pakistan. Just because go ahead is given doesn’t necessarily mean that the operation is carried out right then. They would not only have to have time to get in position, but also have to be under cover of darkness most likely for this kind of operation. Going from 0 to 60 that deep in another country would take some time, with or without assistance from foreign operatives. Seems very likely that it would’ve taken place on May 1 at about 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. in Abbottabad.

I’ve been in situations nearby that region for at least 3 straight days that I knew there was at least one Apache helicopter hovering around my house in the darkness – the thing is – you can hear these machines but you can’t see them – your windows will just rattle for minutes on end – imagine if you have to guess where the ground troops are going to come from ….

News on the electronic media being aired in India now – approx 14.20 hours/2.5.2011, says the US carried out the attack all by itself. A careful reading of these tweets does not display any element of surprise in Abbotabad when the attack was underway. A 40 minute operation with its surprise element cannot lead to army guarding important locations and phones not being answered. It seems the Pak establishment was aware of all that unravelled but seems to have asked the Americans to go on record stating the Pak Govt was not in the know – may be it was planned in advance to avoid a domestic backlash. It is also possible that only certain elements in the Pak establishment knew of the attack. What actually happened would remain a painful mystery for long and will come out only in bits and pieces.

Would have been easy enough to keep the exact target of the operation a secret from Pakistan’s security services though wouldn’t it?

I suppose it’s possible that with a base nearby, some pre-planned contingency measures could be put in place… it is an Army after all, they tend to be fairly well organized ;-)

It is a fascinating situation whereby the Pakistaini Government would have to choose between sharing the triumph of their roll in the West and distancing themselves from any involvement regionally. I know that’s the tightrope they’ve had to tread for years but it’s a seminal moment to decide which side of the fence you are on. ;-)

Paul – this man wrecked havoc on the world and mankind itself. He perhaps did the greatest disservice to ordinary muslims the world over.

As a counter thought, it will be best if the world completely forgets him and gets along. But that would not be so easy – people may die but leave behind an ideology which lingers on for a while till it eventually fades away.

Paul – The Pak government does not need any lessons in duplicity. They are masters of duplicity. Only if they had put their quite considerable intelligence to productive use, Pak probably would have been a very successful nation.

When a small and impoverished nation nurses big power ambitions, this is the piquant situation that would be inevitably obtained. God help the Pak establishment, and my sympathies with the ordinary people of Pakistan.

Rolaids moment for the whole world — no question about that! Thank you Sohaib Athar for temporarily shutting up the conspiracy theorists.
    Questions that still remain:
    1. Pakistan always denied that Osama was in its borders. Was it true or is that the status of Pakistani intelligence?
    2. Where is India’s intelligence on this? What is the role India played on this — sitting on the fence or playing the scarecrow?
    3. How did Mahinda Rajapakse’s (MR) regime fail to betray Osama & Pakistan? Did they not know that the US$25m bounty? Oh . . come on . . . MR could have easily and methodically leaked this intelligence and there are enough buffoons in his cabinet to play the character and claim stupidity. Colonel Karuna or Douglas Devananda could have easily done this. Besides, what is the point in having them in the cabinet — certainly not for their outstanding credibility?

This is interesting and no offense, but I find his tweets really entertaining and funny. I guess this Sohaib Athar person is not really aware that Osama is hiding in his “neighborhood.” With Twitter, I guess this just proves that not only does social media help us get connected with friends, but also to broadcast, well, information regarding what’s the latest happening.

I still remember the Japan tsunami and all I had to do was just check out my Twitter from time to time and see if there are any updates whatsoever – but this would be another situation ofcourse.

What I’m trying to say here is that Twitter has become one of the many sources of information by many.

isn’t the US govt full of duplicity ? It went to war in Iraq over a blatant lie of WMD and that saddam was involved in 9/11. Both were outright lies.

US govts are in in the habit of creating their own demons : Osama bin laden was helped from scratch by the US in the fight against the soviets. saddam was armed to the teeth by the US to fight against Iran.

All of these were unquestionably evil men, but friends of the US at one time or another.

I think that this may have major ramifications within Al Qaida. After all, who ratted out the location for the US? Since Osama was only moved there in 2006 when the compound was constructed, it had to be someone with knowledge of his location after that date.

I suspect that those who supplied him with messages, money, or information during this time period will all be under suspicion….either for wanting to rid AQ of the “old man” allowing them to take power, or being CIA informants.

And if the CIA knew the location since August it appears that they were sitting on it for the right time. One can imagine that they have a lot of surveillance on the comings and goings of those who met with him and supplied him with needed resources. Were the officers at the cadets school(Pakistan’s “Sandhurst”) just a half km away really all that unknowing?

In addition, there were computers within the facility that had the hard-drives removed. It will be an intelligence coup…perhaps even more important than the actually elimination of the spiritual leader”.

Rather than go on offensive, If I were an AQ operative, I’d be dropping any previously developed operation and trying to go very deep underground. Everything and everyone cleared by or briefed for Osama is compromised.

On the contrary: it is Obama who has (willfully) destroyed the economy of the USA (which he was raised to hate) and thereby drag down the economy of the globe. Oh, and give credit where credit is due: Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd began wrecking the American economy when they forced banks and mortgages companies to make home loans to people who were patently unable to make mortgage payments; then they covered for the financial sleight of hand at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and paid Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelicks millions in bonuses. Osama Bin Ladin ‘s family were living in Pakistan but he was not their because he is death years before this action. But US want Pakistan Army & ISI to shut-up in this story. Because Obama want to win next election and this is the way for his victory in next election. However Pakistan’s Intelligence know that OBL is death and their family is living in KaKul with the support of Pakistan Army because they were not in the terror list. But now the story is that there is no sign of anything so if US say that OBL was there then we have to believe them without asking for prove. because they vanished his body in Sea !!!!

And I think Pakistan’s Army already had a knowledge of this event or they were there when US plan this attack. Remember General Pasha visit pentagon few days before and dont forget that interesting news in this US government say that they are thinking to put ISI in terrorist list. Well this is pressurizing technique or what ever but something messy is going on.

Just like Obama had nothing to do with B in Laden’s demise neither does Bush about this Economy other than he did spend too much on Aids Awareness. YOu are so clueless. The Republicans knew everyone can’t have The American Dream because people are lazy andirresponsible, bUT Dems called the Republicans racists saying Reps didn’t want poor and blacks to own homes. The Reps gave in. In 2005 again the Republicans pushed for reform and the Dems again used the Race Card. This is a complicated ProbLEM – THE MAIN FAULT IS : GREED. GREED ON THE BANKS, ON THE REALTORS, ON THE BUYERS ON EVVERYONE. Do you homework – look at the history of Congress decisions during 2003-2006. Don’t talk crap without doing your homework Our Economy sucks and your President can’t fix it – but it’s not easy – WHERE ARE YOU REAGAN? When the incompetent President Jimmy President left office Thank God we had someone with good sense in knowing that the Trickle down economy works and that if you promote a “Nanny” state in this country – people will get use to getting their “free Ride” and if you take their free paychecks away – people will riot like in Greece. Do you homework and get educated – you may learn something

  • MARIVILA25

Hey Matt- Guest did his homework – he definitely doesn’t get his info from MSNBC . They ratings keep slipping slipping and soon they will be just like “AIR AMERICA’ GONE – WHY BECAUSE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE LOVE THIS COUNTRY AND WHAT IT STANDS AND THEY HATE FREE LOADERS

  • Danni

Here’s a thought – why don’t you all stop calling each other “retards” and grab a thesarus and find some new words to insult each other with. I’m so sick of “retard” being the ultimate insult word. My “retarded” brother is the nicest person I know and definitely cooler than people who constantly bitch and call each other names.

I wish the draft would come back so that we can send People like you to war and appreciate this great Country.

You do understand that ‘Twitter’ isn’t an actual corporeal being, right? Twitter was there because people were there. People are almost always there.

We had live, real time text and video records of 9/11, long before the Twitter infestation. But you don’t hear people saying AT&T is always right there when things happen…

Sorry to point this out but the US economy/and most of the EU’s is in the crapper because people decided to get rich on other peoples investments ie trying to bank in on the mortage loans and investments as well as trading on derivatives. Funny thing is the US dollar is stable based on world economics. For instance, (please correct me if I am wrong, my intel may be bad) if lets say hmmm Canada wished to by Saudi oil, (based on the agreements signed in the 70′s) Canada can only purchase this oil in US dollars. So they cash in their coloured money for US dollars to buy oil. This keeps the US dollar in demand. If the Asian countries ever decided to call in their debts, the US would be screwed in the global markets (not that this would happen). There is no other country on the planet that runs the up-teen TRILLION dollars in debt and gets away with it…unless you are the USA. ps bin ladens death will not help the US economy. (not tied in) please don’t quote oil prices dropping because there is more oil in Alberta…Give it 15 years and the world (meaning US) will go after the most precious commodity on earth…WATER…guess who holds 1/3 of the fresh water on the planet…Canada…I smell an invasion north of the 48th…

I’m an American, grateful for the blessings we have and sad that the greedy hoarding aristocrats are protected by politicians and the Supreme Court while everybody else is expected to benefit from whatever “trickles down” from above. Like Marie Antoinette who said of the masses, “Let them eat cake”. And I get so f-n’ tired of my fellow Americans bragging about being the “greatest country… blah blah blah…” People hate pomposity, and that is POMPOUS, marivila25. Cut the crap and find some humility.

Canadia certainly does not have freedom of speech. Don’t forget how the Canadian authorities cautioned Anne Coulter that she would not have the same freedoms to speak that she enjoys in the US. I bet you didn’t know that the Canadian “Human Rights” Commissioner recently said that “freedom of speech is an AMERICAN concept” that he did not have to regard.

The Criminal Code of Canada: Hate propaganda sections:

Prior to 2004-APR-29, the “Hate Propaganda” section of the Criminal Code of Canada (Section 318 & 319) prohibited the expression of hatred against — or the advocacy of genocide of — four “identifiable groups:” people distinguished by their “color, race, religion or ethnic origin.” 1

Curiously, gender, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity and other criteria were not included. Apparently one could have delivered a speech that “willfully promotes hatred” — even one which “advocates or promotes genocide” — against women, men, inter-sexual persons, the disabled, heterosexuals, bisexuals, homosexuals, cisgendered or transgendered persons, transsexuals, and others while enjoying immunity of prosecution under the law.

Bill C-250 added sexual orientation to the list of “identifiable groups” when it was signed into law on 2004-APR-29.

    Jerk that.

you need to pay more attention. Actually, many Muslims are relieved that Bin Ladin is dead and have condemned the extremists. Just as there are Christians who condemn bombing of abortion clinics and murdering of doctors. Extreme Muslims and extreme Christians have a lot in common– they hate each other, expect their women to cover up and shut up, and have a lot of babies whether they want them or not. Don’t lump everybody of one faith, culture or nationality into one huge generalization. But if they’re extremists– go ahead and lump them together. Maybe they’ll “neutralize” each other and leave the rest of us alone.

they said on the news ( more than one news channel ) that they killed him days ago, and they were waiting for dna analysis matching it with, his sisters brain that was subpenaed to get the genetics from her. They didnt want to put it in the media without it actually being him… Now this guys twitter supposedly “live unwittingly broadcasting the infiltration for Osama” but how is that possible when he was already deceased? seems pretty fishy to me, along with the US Government following along with the Islam Laws for his burial, if he died days ago and someone of that religion is supposed to be buried 24 hours after the killing, obviously he was pushed off the USS Carl Vinson in Arabian Sea awhile before.. or how at least one of those 24 SEALs had a SSD Camera attached to their head gear. doesn’t seem to match up.

As you might know, almost all “old” (i.e. verbs related to movement/position, words describing nature, fire, earth, water, wind , lodgements, boating etc.) English words stem from Old Norse (Nordic). Thus wreck – relates to – vrak, vräka, vraeka; wreak – vrak, vräka; reek (smoke) – rök, röka, ryka

    Window is another typical example.

It stems from wind eye (vindöga) – meaning an [squared]opening in the roof, for the wind/smoke [reek] to exit a house. In Norway they still say vindue, whilst we in Sweden now use the word fönster [from French fenêtre; ^ marks there was a "s" dropped somewhere back in the days -> fenestre; in German they have also adopted the French version -> fenster] . Thus the whole “device” is called fönster here, but the very glass shield is called vindruta. Ruta means a square formed opening or demarcation. Vindruta is also the name of the front “window” of a car.

Just a small etymological excursion, whilst you all go berserk (gå bärsärkagång) …

The “fancy words” came much later into English via France, Iberian peninsula …

Don’t be so naive. There’s no such thing as ‘Al Qaeda’ it was invented by the US Neo Cons in the late ’90′s to instil fear in all of us and justify their long term plans for expanding their empire in the Middle East and beyond. There’s no proof Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Bin Laden iswas no saint but he’s merely a cypher, a bogeyman figure which the US and UK use to maintain that fear so the respective governments can continue to demand increased ‘defensive’ measures that prop up the arms industry while at the same time, strip us of more and more of our civil liberties as they push through ever more restrictive legislation. If Bin Laden is dead, he’s probably been dead for years. The facade has probably outgrown it’s usefulness, which, coupled with Barack Obama’s flagging popularity in the polls, is why the bogeyman has been rolled out for one last act.

It’s our news, it’s completely corrupting all of American’s half-witted adults and it truly makes my stomach hurt. Reading these comments is making me completely lose hope in my countries intellect. And FYI all you “Freedom Fighters”, the US is ranked like 14th in freedom in the world as a country. Not even top 10. And were like 25th in education and 32nd in healthcare.

America sucks unless you own an oil company! Haha

You are the Naive one, you dumb ass. You should hold your tongue before you make such stupid remarks. Al Qaeda is a real network, are terrorists, and should be killed one by one until they are wiped from the face of the earth. How patriotic of you to talk down on the Country and the Men and Woman who fight for it and give you the right to make such idiotic statements that hold no truth what so ever. If you have a F*cking problem with it and doubt it, grab a gun and take a Soldier, Marine, Airman or Sailors position out there protecting and defending this Country, take a bullet from one of these extremist and then I would like to see what the hell you have to say about it. So is ignorant. If America wasn’t weak then we’d raise up against our government and tell them to get out of a pointless war, or tell them to stop letting our country go to shit, or let wall street run politics, or let us continue to be ranked worse than 20th in education. Or worse than 10th in FREEDOM.

Ignorant is a state of mind, and god-damned near 60% of American’s can’t seem to shake it.

Eric Roberts1823, I wonder if you even understood my statement above. At no point did I disgrace the Armed services, they’re as much victims in all of this – dragged to the frontline in phony wars under the guise of spreading the current brand of western (read US) democracy when really they are unwittingly being used to seize oil reserves and resources and pave the way for, mainly, US corporations to exploit what’s left.

You also appear to be displaying dubious psychic powers in regard to my patriotism, how exactly are you determining my country of origin? Next, I guess you’ll be staring at goats in an effort to cause me harm.
‘Al Qaeda’ as an international all-encompassing terrorist organisation with agents across the globe, poised to strike at a moments notice, is a fiction, a propaganda tool. A propaganda tool you appear to have fallen for.

Yes, there are small bands of Islamic terrorists, mostly young males disenfranchised and angry at Western involvement and exploitation in their respective regions. Some of these groups may have taken on the title ‘Al Qaeda’ to name themselves and unwittingly allied themselves with the myth that has been perpetuated from US propaganda but they’re disparate and far from being as organized as the government would have you believe. I’d suggest you read Jason Burke’s book ‘Al Qaeda’, immerse yourself in the writings of Noam Chomsky, Robert Fisk and the fantastic documentaries by John Pilger and Adam Curtis (The Power of Nightmares, BBC 2005)
Then you may see the bigger picture and understand a bit better how it all works. As for my ‘loose tongue’ being ‘cut from [my] mouth’ and ‘fed back to [me], your statement clearly indicates what a beautiful, peace-loving humanist you are. (Just in case you missed the subtlety of my sarcasm, I’m being sarcastic.)
You’re sleepwalking into a police state mate. Enjoy your blind compliance.

The CIA funded the Ba’ath party, of which Saddam was a member, essentially supporting the coup that put him in power. When he threatened to trade oil on the Euro, he crossed the line for the last time. All wars are wars against the poor. Iraq was a nation with a strong middle class before Gulf War I. After 12 years of brutal sanctions, the nation was crippled enough for Bush Jr. to finish what his daddy started. No matter how brutal a dictator Saddam Hussein was, it does not justify the lies told by the bush administration linking him to the attacks of 9/11, used as a pretense for unilateral pre-emptive war. Al Qaeda too, grew out of the Mujahideen, trained and funded by a CIA backed Pakistani Intelligence, ISI to help mobilize resistance against the Russians. In fact, Al Qaeda had no significant presence in IRAQ until AFTER we invaded, creating the conditions ripe for civil war. So, if we are going to run around policing the world to rid it of demons, we need to take responsibility for the actions of dictators our nation helped to create.

To Brandon Flyte, did you spell check or grammar check your post. It is pretty difficult to take someone serious who presents their point of view in the manner in which you did. You clearly must be a flag-waving, beer drinking, dumb ass redneck who has failed to educate himself and lacks the open-mindedness and intellect required to educate himself on all aspects of an issue. It became very clear that Bush was a somewhat more sophisticated dumb ass redneck from Texas who wanted to create a war in Iraq for various reasons. Personally I think he mostly wanted to finish his Dad’s war. The fact that there are so many crazy, fanatical muslims who are willing to strap explosives to themselves or their children in order to seek vengeance against the west and its influence shows the downside to dropping bombs on ignorant, poor farmers. You need to think very carefully about the consequences you create before you start attacking other countries and cultures. We will live with the results of this decision and the ever-growing ramifications for many years to come.

Hmm, let’s see. Yes, “I” did serve and retired and still work in the defense business. At times I too wish everyone would have mandatory military service, but upon further thought, that is not what freedom is about. While he wrote the profane words that I often think too, it does not make untrue that statement that most people sit back and enjoy the freedom to do whatever they want because of a small minority that volunteer to protect those freedoms.

As to your shtick about the US starting the war in Iraq, I can only surmise you were born after August 1990. It was Iraq that invaded another sovereign nation (Kuwait) that led to that war. Perhaps you should study some history. Also, as I mentioned in a previous post, Iraq DID have WMD. Since I know few people have the gumption to find anything on their own, here is the link to what happened in Halabja, Iraq in 1988. http://www.halabja.org/ or if you think that is biased, read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halabja_poison_gas_attack. Maybe you think chemical weapons don’t count (though the international community disagrees with you), then read this assessment of Iraq’s nuclear program: http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/iraq/nuke/program.htm

There are a couple of wars that we started. The Revolutionary War and the Civil War, yep. Our country doesn’t really start crap with others, but when our leaders (agree or disagree with the leadership) feel it is necessary we are sent to do something about it. As far as hypocrites go, it would be easy to say our president is in the running for that, but I also don’t necessarily believe that. Notice his tune changed after he took office. When one learns what is really going on, they will frequently adjust their actions accordingly, which is pretty much what he has done since elected.

  • Rhawkman

Ok fine, can we just realize that a word that is spelled correctly does not mean it is true nor does a misspelled word innately imply it is false. For your edification, white trash is not limited to the south, I assure you. It is possible for an intelligent person to make a grammatical error. For instance capitalizing the word “If” in the middle of a sentence and failing to put a period after a sentence and before a smiley. Ouch!

The whole birth certificate deal is just so stupid. Everyone on here who has had a federal background check raise your hands. I am damn sure that if a candidate for president was not a citizen (or most anything else untoward came up) someone in the process would have noticed and said something. And even if they were silenced, that story would have come out, too. It is a non-issue and a distraction from more important things. Obama is not an idiot, but I do believe he is certainly interested in moving our nation towards more government control and away from personal freedoms.

Moreover, all the above is pretty irrelevant to this post and comments. I still have my suspicions about whether this tweet was really created during the events, but the idea of someone seeing (hearing?) news and disseminating it before any conventional media source is pretty awesome.

  • LibsRHaters

Duhh is right… you are as ignorant as you are stupid! There is tons of proof of al Quaeda/Iraq cooperation! Literally TONS!

I have 10 proofs! Documented PROOF! You f-in idiot!

I’ll give you one, since there isn’t the space here to submit it all:
On February 19, 1998, the Iraqi Intelligence Service finalized plans to bring a “trusted confidant” of bin Laden’s to Baghdad in early March. The revelation came in documents discovered after the Iraq war by journalists Mitch Potter of the Toronto Star and Inigo Gilmore of the Sunday Telegraph. The documents–a series of communiqués between Iraqi Intelligence divisions–provide another window
into the relationship between the former Iraqi regime and al Qaeda. The following comes from the Telegraph’s translations of the documents:
The envoy is a trusted confidant and known by them. According to the above mediation we request official permission to call Khartoum station to facilitate the travel arrangements for the above-mentioned person to Iraq. And that our body carry all the travel and hotel expenses inside Iraq to gain the knowledge of the message from bin Laden and to convey to his envoy an oral message from us to bin Laden, the Saudi opposition leader, about the future of our relationship with him, and to achieve a direct meeting with him.
A note at the bottom of the page from the director of one IIS division recommends approving the request, noting, “we may find in this envoy a way to maintain contacts with bin Laden.” Four days later, on February 23, final approval is granted. “The permission of Mr. Deputy Director of Intelligence has been gained on 21 February for this operation, to secure a reservation for one of the intelligence services guests for one week in one of the first class hotels.”
The al Qaeda envoy to Iraq arrived in Baghdad on March 5, 1998. Notes in the margins of the Iraqi Intelligence memos indicate that Mohammed F. Mohammed stayed for more than two weeks in Room 414 of the Al Mansour Melia Hotel as the guest of Iraqi Intelligence. After extending his trip by one week, bin Laden’s emissary departed on March 16.
The U.S. intelligence community is now in possession of these documents and has assessed that they are authentic.

Just to be gracious to your stupidity, I’ll give you another (a little background: Sudan had/has al Queda training camps and weapons development sites):
On August 20, 1998, the Clinton administration bombed the al Shifa pharmaceutical factory in Sudan. The attack came in retaliation for the nearly simultaneous al Qaeda bombings of U.S. embassies in East Africa. The decision to strike al Shifa was–and remains–controversial. But senior Clinton administration officials defended the bombing, citing the presence of Iraqi scientists at chemical weapons facilities in Sudan. Several senior U.S. intelligence officials supported those claims. In an interview with THE WEEKLY STANDARD last year, John Gannon, who was at the time chairman of the CIA’s National Intelligence Council, said this: “The consistent stream of intelligence at that time said it wasn’t just al Shifa. There were three different [chemical weapons] structures in the Sudan. There was the hiring of Iraqis. There was no question that the Iraqis were there.”

  • LibsRHaters

    FRyan -
another idiot with selective amnesia. With your level of knowledge of ISI,
Mujahideen, al Qaeda, and the Ba’ath party, you should know better than to
spread lies. You are a sick freak!

    You said:
“…essentially supporting the coup that put him in power.”
    I’d say it’s
the same as funding the public schrewl education that left you despotic and
stupid. Ok, maybe you have a point. We put Saddam in power through finances
just as you were left stupid through federal education finances. Good point!

    You said, “When
he threatened to trade oil on the Euro, he crossed the line for the last
    time.”
    Oh my!
What a pharse! Again, public schrewl education leaves you an ignorant
conspiracy theorist. No point here… just conspiracy.

    You said,
” All wars are wars against the poor.”
    Since your
next stupid statement was that Iraq was the beautiful metropolis of peace and
bliss with “…a strong middle class”, then what other war was
against the “poor”? I know of only two: communism and socialism. Your
Leftist slant suggests that you are from one of them. Of which war on the poor
are you from, idiot? Are you socialist or commie?

    You said,
” After 12 years of brutal sanctions, the
    nation was crippled…”
    Really?
How was this crippled nation able to have the third largest military in the
world at the time of both Gulf wars? Crippled? Do you recall the Oil for Food scandal?
Did you know who operated the bank that mediated the finances in the UN’s
Oil-for-Food program? It was Saddam’s brother! Most of the food came into Iraq rotting
and went to waste (UN estimates 80% waste). Again, the UN fails! With finances
from the Oil-for-Food program, Iraq bought weapons from Russia, and bought UN
Security Council votes from all 5 members to lift the “crippling
sanctions”. The US is member of UN Security Council. Saddam’s brother sent
millions of dollars to Mark Rich, wanted criminal on the run in Switzerland.
His ex-wife, socialite Denise Rich, lobbied the Clinton Administration with
that money. Clinton pardons Mark Rich in 2001.

    The UN was
calling for a vote to actually lift the “crippling sanctions” in
2003. Saddam had 1000 scientists waiting to get back to work on chemical and
nuclear weapons manufacturing once the “crippling sanctions” were
lifted. They weren’t allowed to leave the country and were being watched by
    Saddam’s Fedayeen. Saddam was an
ego-maniac! Gulf War I stopped only due to peace treaty. The treaty provided a
No-Fly Zone over Kurds in the north and Shia in the south, free roam of Iraq
for UN weapons inspectors, and the destruction of the weapons of what the UN
documented in existence. Instead, Saddam shot Russian anti-aircraft missiles at
US planes enforcing the No-Fly Zones too many times to count, often daily.
Instead, Saddam restricted UN weapons inspectors so that they could not work on
locating and destroying WMD, and even kicked them out of Iraq.

    Saddam
earned Gulf War II! Too bad the UN is soo worthless! “The Willing”,
37 countries, had to go do Gulf War II. The biggest reason wasn’t that
violation of UN peace treaty for which it should have been, but because Saddam
and his minions were cooperating with al Qaeda, and as soon as “crippling sanctions” were lifted, there is no assurance that nukes don’t get into the hands of al Qaeda.

Did you know Saddam Hussein paid $25 million to families of terrorist suicide bombers for killing Jews and Westerners? Saddam was a terrorist! At home and abroad! SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN YOU IDIOT!

Al Qaeda and Sudan were working together to manufacture
chemical and biological weapons. The Clinton Administration had worked on these
ties with the CIA since 1996. Intelligence collected proof of strong ties to Osama
bin Laden/al Qaeda with Sudan Military. The CIA listened in to phone calls
between scientists in Sudan and scientists in Iraq in their work to develop
chemical and biological weapons. The evidence of Iraq/al Qaeda/Sudan
cooperation is overwhelming! Remember the ethnic cleansings in Sudan, and
complete village annihilations since they wouldn’t accept the Muslim fatwa’s
    sent to them?

We supported the party that was willing to fight Iran in the
Iran/Iraq War. Iran has crappy oil. They wanted Iraqi oil. The world community
could not afford allowing Iran to take control of that much oil. Iran is run by
radicals. So was Iraq! So we didn’t help Iraq like we could have so as to force
a stalemate. It was always general practice to not get into a country’s
political affairs and just let a country have whoever came to power retain
their power. We felt it was none of our business.

Where is your evidence of W. Bush tying Saddam to 9/11? The
claim is always made by you lying saps, but you never provide it! W. Bush
never, NEVER said that Saddam was tied to 9/11! Soo much stupidity!

    On 30 September
2004, the ISG released the Duelfer Report, its final report on Iraq’s purported
WMD programs. Among its conclusions were:
Saddam Hussein controlled all of the
    regime’s strategic decision making.
Hussein’s primary goal from 1991 to
2003 was to have UN sanctions lifted, while maintaining the security of
the regime.* The introduction of the Oil-for-food
program (OFF) in late 1996 was a key turning point for the regime.* By 2000-2001, Saddam had managed to
mitigate many of the effects of sanctions and undermine their
international support.* Iran was Iraq’s pre-eminent
motivator.* The Iraq Survey Group (ISG) judged
that events in the 1980s and early 1990s shaped Saddam’s belief in the
value of WMD.* Saddam ended his nuclear program in
1991. ISG found no evidence of concerted efforts to restart the program,
and Iraq’s ability to reconstitute a nuclear weapons program progressively
decayed after 1991.* Iraq destroyed its chemical weapons
stockpile in 1991, and only a small number of old, abandoned chemical
munitions were discovered by the ISG.* Saddam’s regime abandoned its
biological weapons program and its ambition to obtain advanced biological
weapons in 1995. While it could have re-established an elementary BW
program within weeks, ISG discovered no indications it was pursuing such a
course. But, the ISG never went through the hours of tapes recording the
conversations between al Qaeda and Iraqi leaders.* Saddam wanted to recreate Iraq’s WMD
capability, which was essentially destroyed in 1991, after sanctions were
removed and Iraq’s economy stabilized. Saddam aspired to develop a nuclear
capability—in an incremental fashion, irrespective of international
pressure and the resulting economic risks—but he intended to focus on

  • LibsRHaters

No, fighting for your the country would be, Stupid! Fighting for the US, because its their capitalistic system that gave more people freedom, liberty, and the opportunity to freely serve their god and pursue their dreams. That would be patriotic! Dissent is from the Communist playbook. Labor movements enslaving their whole population toward a system maintained by capitalists. Communism would have a chance if the leaders of it weren’t capitalistic. They take all the gains, while the rest are brought to poverty.
Dissent is a right in a free society, but it, by far, isn’t the highest form of patriotism! Stupid!

  • LibsRHaters

How about the 11 layers of the “doctored up” document that is supposedly his long form birth certificate. Anybody that knows Adobe Illustrator would know that a scanned file saved as a PDF file would not have 11 layers. If you don’t have Illustrator, then watch the videos of those that opened the “Obama Long Form Birth Certificate” on youtube.
You are the idiot with your head so far up your ass, we just nickname you S*%tface!

  • LibsRHaters

The document that got Obummer a passport was never released, Stupid! What was released by the White House was a doctored up document. Bruce, you are a prime example of what is left after the public schrewl system is done with you… STUPID!

The document released by the White House when opened in Adobe Illustrator shows 11 layers. A scanned document saved in PDF form will have only one layer, the scan. Once the layers are unmasked, the layers are apparent. As you go from layer to layer, you see an obvious foisting of another fraud on the American people.

Actually, no one but Democrats have anything against our communist/socialist president being half black. The problem is with his Eastern European Socialist/Communist white half.

Want proof for his Kenyan birth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4FqVRWgrNw

Obama goes by a few names and a few Social Security numbers. Why? Why, of the Social Security numbers that he’s used, why is a predominate one from Conneticut? Proof: http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=152773

You should listen to Rush Limbaugh, Brucy. Not with your socialist ears, but with an open mind and open ears. Put down the kool-aid, stupid Brucy!

  • LibsRHaters

    A little research:
Modern “speech codes” do not exempt religious speech or churches from their scope. Canada’s hate crime law was amended to criminalize speech characterized as “directing hatred” against persons based on sexual orientation.

Lawsuits brought under a theory of wrongful excommunication or “shunning” often fail, but can still interfere with a church’s religious exercise. All such communications should be privileged; clergy should be free to speak about religious matters without fear of offending the law.

Free speech exists in the US, mostly, but ministers in Canada are tepid, at best, to make any mention of the curse of homosexuality. Rom 1:28 “And even as they did not like to
retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a REPROBATE
MIND, to do those things which are not convenient;” The only sin that isn’t convenient is homosexuality.

A nice comment. But what I think would be even better than pure communism would be pure socialism. EVERYTHING is controlled by the people. But, like communism, it’s shunned by westerners, given a bad name because of its leaders, and thought of as crazy and wrong. I believe socialism to be the best government for everyone.
